Casa Manzanillo

About Manzanillo: Manzanillo is a romantically scenic and restful town located on Mexico’s beautiful Pacific Gold Coast. The residents of Manzanillo are a vibrant, interesting and warm group that go out of their way in most cases to help, teach or show all of the wonderful things they love about their home. Their presence and zest for life truly add to the flavor and enjoyment of this area. Miramar’s long beach, which is just a short 5 minute drive from the Casa Manzanillo, is ideal for a leisurely stroll, cooling off and filling up with an ice cold Cerveza and incredible food at one of the rustic palapa restaurants serving fresh seafood, or taking a dip in the waters of the Pacific. The nearby mangroves are amazing places to visit and offer a getaway to commune with nature in an awesome and tranquil setting. Owning a share of Casa Manzanillo also includes membership at the Beach Club, which boasts a private beach for you to share and enjoy with friends and family. The weather is fantastic, and for the most part, year round. There is always a breeze; the greenery and tropical plants, colorful birds, and the ocean are absolutely beautiful. Life in Manzanillo moves at a slower pace. Its rugged beauty of rocks, waves, warmth and people can hypnotize. Manzanillo is an Enchantress.

Exploring: One of the most pleasant ways to spend a few hours in the coastal areas of Manzanillo is to tour the shady mangrove-filled estuaries that dot the area. Full of birds, iguanas, crocodiles and marine creatures you’re sure to experience beauty and tranquility of nature untouched. Whether you tour the waterways through the mangrove by boat or kayak or walking along the board walk you’re sure to return relaxed and refreshed. Santiago Bay has vibrant, lively beaches and a variety of water activities. Surfing and skim boarding is most popular at Olas Altas. Playa Miramar is the main hangout for sunbathers and people who are just looking to relax and watch the waves roll in. Beachfront restaurants, like our favorite, El Indio (those people are awesome!) with lounge chairs and umbrellas provide the perfect way to spend a day doing nothing. You can choose to head out on a guided snorkeling adventure or a horseback ride down the beach and of course there is fishing. Manzanillo offers guided Class A Sport fishing, Whale Watching and Dolphin Watching excursions. There is World-Class golfing at several different courses, including the challenging course at Club Santiago. There are many places to hike and play in the tropical areas as well, and for a small fee you can enjoy off-roading or ATV fun with a guide. Local markets are treasure troves of hidden wonders and there is something for everyone. Shopping in Manzanillo is really fun and exciting and should not be missed. The open air Mercados offer regional produce, sweet fruits, fresh seafood and meat as well as clothing and treasures of all kinds. As evening sinks in, head back to town in to enjoy upscale restaurants with phenomenal service, dancing and lively bars.

Dining: The food…let me tell you, that’s one of the best things about Manzanillo. Incredibly fresh, well-prepared, oh-so-yummy food. Manzanillo has many upscale restaurants. All are relaxed and casual and the service is very, very good anywhere you go. El Fogon was one of our favorites, with its open-air back courtyard, great food, wine, superior service and the roaming Mariachi’s that frequent the place. (Fantastic!)

All along the beaches and waterfront are open-air palapa restaurants that serve up delicious fresh seafood and ice-cold cerveza all day. They are all good, but our favorite was the El Indio. The fresh ceviche there is amazing and the family that runs the place is really friendly and sweet. The view’s not so bad either. You can eat and drink with your toes in the sand watching those waves roll in. There are also many local vendors that walk up and down the beach selling fresh fruit, coconuts, candy, an array of different types of food and drink to taste and savor. If it's burger’s or breakfast you're looking for, Juanito’s in downtown Santiago is the place to head. They also have great, friendly service and, for all you myspace/facebook junkies, wireless Internet.
